XMR to ZEC

XMR to ZEC: swap Monero to Zcash without KYC

Move between the two privacy coins without a public hop of your own in the middle: you send Monero, which is private by design, and Wagyu pays Zcash to your shielded u1 address. No account, no KYC, a live orderbook rate, and about 10 minutes from deposit to payout on the default network (typical estimate).

Many instant exchanges serve this pair to a transparent Zcash address only. Wagyu decodes unified addresses and pays the shielded receiver, so the ZEC you receive starts its life in the shielded pool.

XMR to ZEC measured median execution: 6.6 min across 6 completed swaps in the 30 days ending Oct 27, 2026, 5:11 PM UTC. Measured from deposit detection to the final recorded workflow step; excludes the wait before sending and wallet unlock time. Fewer than 30 swaps back it, so the typical estimate above stands.

Where your ZEC lands

  • Shielded address (u1… or zs1…): private, nothing about this payout is visible on chain. Most Zcash wallets give you a u1 address. This is the default.
  • Transparent address (t1…): visible on chain. Use this only if your wallet or exchange gives you a t1 address.
  • tex1… addresses cannot receive this payout.
  • Need a shielded address? Zodl, Ywallet, Zingo and the Ledger Zcash Shielded app all give you a u1 address.

How the XMR to ZEC swap works

1. Enter the amount and your Zcash address

The quote shows the ZEC you can expect, the 2% fee and the minimum, which is about $25.

2. Send XMR to the subaddress created for your order

Compliance screening runs before the swap. A deposit that fails screening is refunded: the order moves to a refund state and asks you for a refund address. Nothing is held.

3. Wagyu executes on the orderbook

Monero deposits confirm faster than Bitcoin ones, so this route is quick.

4. Receive ZEC at your address

About 10 minutes end to end on the default network (typical estimate).

Fees, minimum and time for this route

  • Wagyu fee: 2% for this route. The quote also shows applicable routing, trading and rounding costs. Your deposit transaction network fee is paid separately. The final output can change with the market during execution.
  • Minimum: about $25 on the default network. Another network or amount can change the quote.
  • Time: about 10 minutes from deposit detection to completion on the default network. Confirmations and large orders executed in slices can take longer. This is the typical estimate.

Times are approximate for the default network, from deposit detection to swap completion. Confirmations, order size and your selected network can change the timing.

Before you send

  • Have your Zcash address ready: a unified address (u1) or a Sapling address (zs1) gets a shielded payout. A tex1 address is refused.
  • Your XMR must be unlocked before you can send it: Monero needs 10 confirmations, about 20 minutes, after you received it.
  • Send the exact amount shown in the order, in one transaction, and save the order link and its private session key.
  • Check the address bar. The only official domain is wagyu.xyz.

Which Zcash wallet to use

Wagyu pays ZEC to an address you control, so set up a Zcash wallet before you start. Zodl, Ywallet and Zingo are shielded wallets, and the Ledger Zcash Shielded app keeps the keys on a hardware wallet. Write down the seed phrase, then copy the wallet's unified address (it starts with u1) into the swap form: the payout goes to its shielded receiver. Keep the wallet up to date, because Zcash network upgrades need current software; the next one, NU7, is scheduled for 5 November 2026.

Why swap XMR to ZEC on Wagyu

Monero is where most private balances sit. Zcash is where the exchange listings, the hardware wallet support and the 2026 attention went. Holding both, and moving between them without touching a custodial exchange, is what this pair is for. The catch elsewhere is that many exchanges serving this route pay out to a transparent address, so a swap meant to stay private ends on a public chain. Wagyu pays the shielded receiver of the address you give. If you want the other direction, the Zcash to Monero page pays XMR to your Monero address for the same fee.

Frequently asked questions

Is Monero to Zcash really shielded on both ends?

Your Monero deposit is private by Monero's design, and the Zcash payout goes to the shielded receiver of the u1 or zs1 address you give. Wagyu does not describe what happens between the two legs beyond this; the deposit and the payout are the parts you control.

What is the fee?

The Wagyu fee is 2% on this route. The quote shows applicable routing, trading and rounding costs before you send. Your deposit network fee is separate, and the final output can change during execution.

How long does it take?

Typically about 10 minutes from deposit detection on the default network. This is the typical estimate; confirmations, order size and network conditions can change the timing. The widget shows the estimate for your actual swap.

What is the minimum?

About $25 on the default network for this route. Check the quote for your selected network and amount before sending.

Do I need an account or KYC?

No. Paste an address, send XMR, receive ZEC. Compliance screening runs before the swap; a deposit that fails screening is refunded, not held.

Can I swap Zcash back to Monero?

Yes, on the Zcash to Monero page. See that page for its fee, minimum and typical timing.

Which Zcash wallet should I use?

Any wallet that gives you a unified u1 address: Zodl, Ywallet, Zingo, or the Ledger Zcash Shielded app. Paste its u1 address and the payout goes to the shielded receiver.

Why can't I send my XMR yet?

Monero locks incoming funds for 10 confirmations, about 20 minutes. Wait until your wallet shows the balance as unlocked, then send.

Is the rate fixed or floating?

Floating. The quote is an estimate and the deposit amount is exact. The ZEC you receive follows the orderbook during execution; large amounts are executed in slices to keep slippage low.

Does NU7 affect a swap to ZEC?

Not the way you swap. After 5 November, blocks come every 25 seconds instead of 75. Update your wallet before the upgrade; a swap placed right at activation may take a little longer.
